Councillor Peter Golds represents Island Gardens ward on the Isle of Dogs.
Since 2006, Peter has been elected five times to Tower Hamlets Council. He has served on all
committees of the council and has led the Conservative Party on the authority. He is also an
extremely active local councillor involved in many aspects of local life in Island Gardens ward where
he has lived for many years. As well as Tower Hamlets he is a senior member of the Local
Government Association serving as deputy chairman of the Culture, Tourism and Sports Board. He
has a lifelong interest in sport, the theatre and opera and believes that they are available to be
enjoyed by all and not a minority.
In recent months, as a local councillor he has been supporting residents in resisting the application
to licence the largest ever party boat on the Thames, making Greenwich foot tunnel safer,
campaigning to make nitrous oxide illegal, ensuring there is improved rubbish collection on the
Island and tackling anti social behaviour.
