Local Conservative Councillors have uncovered evidence that Tower Hamlets Council is planning to allow companies to hold commercial events in parks and on playing fields across the Isle of Dogs.
After meetings with council officers it has become clear that Millwall Park, Sir John McDougal Gardens and Island Gardens are all under threat from commercial exploitation.
Millwall Cllr David Snowdon said, “It is absolutely outrageous that Tower Hamlets Council is planning to use our parks as a cash cow. Millwall Park is used by local sports teams and hard working families in their leisure time.”
Blackwall and Cubitt Town Cllr Tim Archer added “Previous commercial events in Victoria Park have been an absolute disaster, with local residents up in arms at the noise and anti-social behaviour caused.”
Your local Conservative Councillors will be fighting to make sure that the Council does not abuse our parks, and then use the money to subsidise events in Bethnal Green or Brick Lane.
