Congratulations to the parents and governors of the new Wapping High School which had a successful opening in September. Currently operating from temporary accommodation in part of St George’s in the East Church. As from 2013 it will be moving to new premises on the Commercial Road, with new facilities for art, science and design in a multi million pound complex.
Wapping High School is already helping ease the pressure on our existing schools as the pace of local development results in the demand for increased pupil places.
Commenting, Conservative councillor for St Katharine's and Wapping Dr Emma Jones said "Everyone knows that what we desperately need in Wapping and across the south of our borough is more school places. We cannot go on as we are with overcrowded schools and Wapping children having to travel to Stepney or the Isle of Dogs just to go to school. I congratulate everyone at Wapping High School on getting approval for new premises on the Commercial Road which should mean our schoolchildren get the local education they deserve."
